Chartering consists of several specialized teams, including Freight Trade, Operations, Bunker Desk, Technical and Vetting Management, Freight Accounting, Trade Support and Digital Development. 

The Partner in Global Sea Freight

The Chartering department faces the daily challenge of moving cargo on seagoing vessels from point A to point B as quickly as possible. Our department, a crucial part of Viterra, is responsible for organizing and managing all sea transport of dry bulk goods, such as grain and oilseeds, sold by our commodity traders. As a separate part of Viterra, we focus entirely on the commercial side of managing, executing, and operating the transport needs and risks for these goods. With a fleet of 180-220 ships and the ability to transport around 65 million tons of cargo each year, we are a major player in the dry bulk shipping industry.

Together, we are not only dedicated to efficient and effective sea transport but also to sustainability. This means we continuously strive for improvements to minimize our environmental impact. Within the department we strive towards playing a role in increasing awareness on sustainability by investigating the usage of biofuels and actively participating in the Global Maritime Forum and Sea Cargo Charter.

Your role in the Chartering department

In the Chartering department, you play a central role in ensuring smooth sea transport operations. Our department is daily involved in organizing and managing the transportation of goods, maintaining intensive contact with captains and other maritime professionals to ensure cargoes reach their destinations on time and safely. Solving various issues, from technical problems on board to logistical challenges, is a significant part of the work.
