Viterra is seeking a BI Architect. The BI architect serves the organization by promoting clarity and efficiency in using data to drive decision-making. Is responsible for the design, usability and quality of the BI products. The BI Architect is the key decision maker on design decisions, and works to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned at each stage of the development lifecycle. The BI Architect understands both the engineering and business side of the product release and is ultimately responsible for representing the end user’s needs.

About the team

This vacancy is part of our Global IT Headquarters, located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. We have more than 170 IT employees in Rotterdam, divided over 8 main teams: PMO-Office, Business Intelligence, Global IT Operations, Security, Global Application Development, Global Application Support, Center of Expertise SAP, Enterprise Architecture and IT Research Desk.

Job description
  • Managing the BI platform team and prioritization of the Platform backlog (epic/features/user stories/timelines)
  • Participates in CMB with IT management and Business stakeholders
  • Prepares project mandates and project briefs
  • Developing & maintaining the BI-application diagrams in ARIS
  • Part of the Enterprise Architecture Design Authority (DA) representing BI
  • Assessing business requirements, outlining the technical design specifications for various BI projects, and integrating viable BI solutions to address the needs of the business.
  • Collaborate with business analysts to translate business requirements into epic/features for the development teams to implement.
  • Responsible for end-to-end cross-functional system design and communication.
  • Ensures the Design goals (Performance, Modularity, Reliability, Maintainability, Reusability, Internationalization and Accessibility) are met.
  • Facilitates technical decision, and incorporates feedback and emergent patterns from the team back in to the overall design.
  • Work with project managers and technical leads to determine scope and priorities for product development cycles (projects).
  • Planning, designing and architecture of BI/DWH solutions and defining BI best practices.
  • Bachelor degree Information Technology or relevant area of expertise;
  • Min. 7 years’ experience in implementation of BI solutions;
  • Broad knowledge of BI architecture concepts and tools;
  • Senior level experience with data warehousing and dimensional modelling;
  • Significant experience in database design;
  • Methods of acquiring, defining and verifying requirements;
  • Experience in business process/data modelling;
  • Defining, measuring and delivering business value;
  • Risk analysis and frequent response to changes;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Managerial skills and ability to manage own work and the work of the team;
  • Experienced with Scrum methodology in software development;
  • Basic knowledge on the Commodity Trading Business (physical trade, position-keeping, logistics, derivatives, Forex etc.) is a pre;
  • Experience with Archimate is a pre;
  • Knowledge of Oracle development, Tableau, Alteryx, SAP DS and SAP Business Objects is a pre.
  • Highly customer-oriented and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Vision on BI and BI products, stakeholder management and a good sense for prio.
  • Critical thinker, identifying the technologies to use on various projects while taking into account their performance, price and service agreements. Able to make good decisions when selecting tools.
  • Strong teamwork skills, and be able to provide functional and technical guidance and support to other team members.
  • Structured, pro-active, flexible and service minded.
  • Agile minded.
  • Good presentation skills, and ability to communicate with various stakeholders, including end users, managers, and members of the IT team.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
  • Flexible in working hours; occasional work during evenings or weekends should be expected
