We are looking for an Application Support Specialist to join our Global Application Support team.

The team is responsible for ensuring the daily operational availability and optimized use of our global applications. Through effective incident resolution, pro-actively identifying new improvement opportunities and successful delivery of changes and projects, we further strengthen our business world-wide.

Reporting to one of our team coordinators, you will be driving the successful delivery and ongoing support of various key business applications. To do so, you will be working closely with other business and IT departments within the company as well as external service providers around the world.

The ideal candidate combines an eye for (technical) detail with oversight on business processes and application landscapes in a global enterprise organisation.

This vacancy is part of our Global IT Headquarters, located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. We have more than 150 IT employees in Rotterdam, divided over 8 main teams: PMO-Office, Business Intelligence, Global IT Operations, Security, Global Application Development, Global Application Support, Center of Expertise SAP and Enterprise Architecture.

Job description

The Global Application Support team delivers world-class support and continuous improvement of the Viterra application landscape. We partner with top vendors in order to deliver competitive business advantage. Using the latest industry standards and practises, we continuously improve our added value towards our colleagues around the globe.

On a day-to-day base, you will be working on:

  • Fast and effective 2nd line incident resolution   
  • Working together with other IT departments to resolve the more complex issues
  • Timely delivery of service requests
  • Functional requirements analysis
  • Test activities as part of changes and projects
  • Solution delivery towards our business stakeholders
  • Ensure work instructions and workflows are in place for all processes, maintained and kept up to date with business changes

Requirements

    The ideal candidate has:

    • Bachelor or Master degree
    • Combines general business understanding with a broad knowledge of IT;
    • Experience in the functional and/or technical management of applications; 
    • Ability to communicate on different levels in an international environment; 
    • 5+ years of working experience in a global, commercial, cross-cultural enterprise environment;
    • Strong experience in a customer driven (IT) support environment;
    • Fluently in English, both verbally and in writing. Dutch is a pre;
    • Understanding of the Dutch working culture;
    • Experience with ITIL processes like change management, problem management and SLA management is a pre;
    • Proven ability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve application issues in a 2nd line role;
    • Strong customer relationship skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written;
    • Experience with providing end-user training and knowledge transfer with direct colleagues;
    • Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines and/or sudden increase of work loads;
    • Relevant experience with vendor management;
    • Flexible in working hours; occasional work during evenings or weekends should be expected.
